A 1/2 HP cold plunge chiller that turns whatever you already own into a real cold plunge. Stock tank, barrel, inflatable, chest freezer conversion, an old hot tub shell — if it holds water, this cools it to 39°F and holds it there. No ice runs, no refills, no monthly bags. Ships with the pump, hoses and quick-connect fittings, so there is nothing to figure out. $500, free shipping.

  • 1/2 HP, not the 1/3 HP most kits ship. Oversized on purpose so it still pulls 39°F when your garage hits 100°F, which is exactly where lighter units give up.
  • Works with what you already own. Stock tank, poly barrel, inflatable tub, chest-freezer build, old hot tub shell. Standard fittings included, nothing proprietary.
  • Cools up to 98 gallons and holds it. Digital display — set your temperature and leave it. No ice runs, no refills, no bags..
  • Ships ready to connect. Inlet and outlet fittings, starter pump and manual in the box.

Built and backed by a small team in San Diego. Free shipping, a 1-year warranty on the chiller, and real people to call if something goes wrong.

Will it work for me?

What's needed

  • Max volume it can hold at 39°F: Around 130 Gallons
  • Cool-down time: roughly 3 hours to take 100 gallons from 70°F to 39°F.
  • Works with: stock tanks, poly barrels, inflatable tubs, chest-freezer builds, hot tub shells, our own tub.
  • You'll need: a vessel, two hose connections, and a GFCI outlet. If your tub has no ports, a bulkhead fitting or an over-the-edge hose run both work.
  • Power: standard 110V.

What's in the box

📦 What's In The Box

1. The Core Unit

  • 1/2 HP Industrial Chiller: The heavy-duty cooling engine with digital temperature display.
  • Power Cable: Standard US 110V plug (no special wiring required).

2. Accessories

  • Water Pump: Includes a 396 gallons per hour (GPH) pump.
  • Standard Fittings: Includes basic inlet/outlet connectors to get you started.
  • User Manual: Instructions for temperature setting and maintenance.

⚠️ Important: System Requirements
This is a standalone component for DIY builders. It does NOT include:

  • No Tub: You must provide your own vessel (Stock tank, barrel, or existing tub).
  • No Plumbing Kit: Does not include the "San Diego Connection Kit" (Pre-assembled hoses, manifold, or upgraded high-flow pump).

Setup

The Setup

About 10 minutes.

Step 1: Set the chiller on a flat surface within 3 feet of your tub, with clearance at the intake vents.

Step 2: Run the outlet hose from the pump to the chiller inlet, and the chiller outlet back to the tub. If your tub has ports, connect through them; if not, run both lines over the rim.

Step 3: Fit a filter before the chiller inlet.

Step 4: Plug into a GFCI outlet and set your temperature on the digital display.

You supply: A vessel, and one standard outlet.

Maintenance

Chiller Maintenance

Monthly: Vacuum dust off the intake vents.

Always: Run a filter before the chiller inlet to catch hair and debris.

Water chemistry: Keep it balanced to prevent calcium buildup in the heat exchanger. (Try our water maintenance kit for everything you need to keep your water crystal clear.)

Frequently Asked Questions

What size tub can it cool?

Up to about 130 gallons at 39°F. Two things move that number: insulation and ambient temperature. A well-insulated tub in a shaded garage is easy work. An uninsulated stock tank in full sun is not, and you should size down. If you are near the limit, an insulated cover does more for you than any other upgrade.

How long to cool 100 gallons from 70°F to 39°F?

Roughly 3 hours from a cold start. You only do that once. After the first pulldown the chiller is topping up small losses, not repeating the whole job.

Will it work with my stock tank, barrel, chest freezer or hot tub shell?

Yes to all of those, as long as you stay under 130 gallons. It does not care what the vessel is made of. It needs water in and water out, nothing else.

The two things that catch people are volume and insulation. Metal stock tanks shed cold quickly, so shade or wrap yours if you can.

My tub has no ports. How do I connect it?

Two options. Run both hoses over the rim, which needs no modification and is what most stock tank owners do. Or fit a bulkhead through the wall for a permanent install.

Over the rim works fine. Keep the pump fully submerged and keep the return line below the water surface so it does not aerate and splash.

What is the real difference between 1/3 and 1/2 HP?

Not how cold it gets. Both reach 39°F in a cool room. The difference is whether it stays there when the room is warm.

A 1/3 HP unit is sized for mild conditions. Once ambient passes about 85°F it is pulling heat out roughly as fast as the room puts it back, and the water drifts up. The extra capacity is insurance for July, not a bigger number on the spec sheet.

Does the chiller have a built-in water pump?

Yes, the chiller includes a 396 gallons per hour pump, so you can get water flowing immediately.

Can I use the chiller outdoors?

Absolutely, the chiller is designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
Just make sure it’s placed on a flat surface, protected from direct rain, and plugged into a GFCI outlet.

  • Step 1: Pick your vessel

Stock tank, barrel, inflatable, freezer build. If it holds water and fits under 130 gallons, this cools it.

  • Step 2: Run two hoses

In and out. Use your tub's ports if it has them, or run over the rim if it doesn't.

  • Step 3: Set your temperature

Digital display, standard outlet. No ice, no refills, ever again.
